Indigo Cotton Hanten Jacket: Sasuke

This is a fantastic vintage indigo cotton hanten jacket. Kanji lettering on lapel says ‘Hikabe shoten store 日下部商店’ and the jacket also has wonderful graphic character of the company logo which is dyed in katazome (stencil dyeing) at the back and fabulous Kakuji 角字 style kanji character saying ‘Momen 木綿’ which means cotton so the jacket must be made by a textile company as their uniform or for promotion purpose. I really love the design!

Kakuji 角字 was born in Edo-era which is type of lettering consisting of thick vertical and horizontal lines which creates fantastic graphic art.

It makes a great jacket with jeans or any other items for men and women. Enjoy vintage folk textile taste of Japan! ♡
