This is a fantastic antique indigo cotton hanten jacket. The fabrics are hand spun and woven which have such a soft and warm feel. The indigo colour is just breathtaking. There are charming kasuri ikat fabrics in the lining.
The hanten jacket is well worn. It is considered to be c. from late 1800 - early 1900. It is such an attractive and stylish antique indigo piece. I really love it.
Kanji lettering on lapel says ‘Okada 岡田’ and the jacket also has wonderful graphic character of the company logo which is dyed in katazome (stencil dyeing) at the bottom and the back.
It would be stunning to use as a dress and also display as a wonderful piece of art for a room.
It has some flaws and certain wear including stain, fray and hole. However it is such a amazing piece! I guess the original owner of the jacket loved it very much. Enjoy real antique folk textile taste of Japan! Please check the detailed photos.
