This hand-stitched women's indigo cotton hippari farmers jacket has a charming light blue, green, yellow and red geometric kasuri 絣 (ikat) pattern in indigo navy blue. It has short sleeves and the cuff width is about 18.5cm.
There are about 7.5 cm slits at the bottom of both sides. The jacket, typical of Japanese folkwear.
I try to show you as accurate colours as possible but it's not always easy in a photo so the real colour might be slightly different from the pictures.
It is slightly starched. Traditionally Japanese people like cotton items to be starched because of the crispy fresh feeling in very hot summer weather. The Hippari will soften after a couple of gentle washes in cold water.
Kako is a lovely piece with a warm folk feeling. It will make a great casual jacket with jeans or any other denim items!
It has certain wear, but it is such a fantastic vintage piece. Please check detail photos and 'Extra Images'.
