This is a fantastic antique natural indigo dyed cotton katazome 型染め Boro futon cover cloth with a vibrant chrysanthemums (kiku 菊) motif pattern. The textile is hand spun and woven which has such a soft and warm feel. The indigo colour is just breathtaking.
The cloth is well used and some parts are repaired elaborately with a very charming and tasteful feel. It is considered to be from c. late 1800 - early 1900. This indigo Katazome piece is so distinctive. It is seriously attractive.
It would be stunning to display as a wonderful piece of art for a room or design project works.
